The "Security Centre" in Windows is automatically set to alert about the status of both Firewall & Antivirus software (basically, to let you know whether these applications are active, and whether your AV software needs updating). However, you can change the alert settings (In Security Centre, click on "Change the way the Security Centre alerts me" in the left-hand column). It might be that you have told the Security Centre not to monitor the status of your AV software, and it is this "User defined" setting that Spybot is querying. I'd need to try this to confirm this theory. Edit : Yes, if you disable the notfications via the Security Centre, then Spybot will notify you about this. A second possibility is that your AV software does not allow the Security Centre to monitor its status. I think Norton does this (not sure). This would account for the "Override" warning. Make sure that the "override" function is linked to the way that your AV software operates, and NOT to any malicious code lurking on your system. Hope this helps. |
