Project I am working on and need advise

I have 3 HDD's I am wanting to install XP Pro on one and Server 2008 x64 on the other and I have vista 64 installed right now. Is this possible? I want to say yes as it is no different than dual booting or triple booting.

Yes, I don't see why not, you would install Vista first, then probably XP Pro, and then Server 2008 (the order of XP Pro and Server 2008 will probably not matter, as long as Vista is installed first), and all three will appear on the Vista boot loader...and use Easy BCD to look after the Vista bootloader...

I'm sure mal will be able to give more useful info on this subject...

Interesting Charlie though I have to say that Server 2008 is not an OS I'd want to be installed as part of the usual dual or triple boot set-up. I'm not saying it won't work.

I'd dual boot XP and Vista as normal but would set-up Server 2008 as a completely independent OS.
This would involve the use of a boot selector that hides the other OS (Drives). It would mean that when you boot into the selected OS, (Server 2008) the other drives are hidden, there's no interaction possible, ether way.

Thanks I am going to install the OS's I want on their own seperate hdd and manually boot into it as I need to. Decided this was the easiest way with less problems. I did turn windows server 2008 into a workstation with a tweak so it is like Ultimate with extras now.

What tweaking (guide) did you use, as I have a copy of it, and will be installing it to use as a Workstation (setup) sometime?

I am actually working on getting all the parts right now. My current system is 2 years old and just a c2d so a new build will do justice.

Hope you get all your new parts sorted without any bother....

I was reckoning by June 2009, the ram and motherboards should have dropped considerably, should also be a far greater choice of both ram and boards, so I reckon I will wait until then.

My present setup is certainly no slouch, a Q9550 (on an Asus P5Q Deluxe) @ 4.0GHz, I do quite a bit of video encoding, and it really comes into it's own doing that, in saying that from the benches I have seen of the i7, it is also has an improvement in encoding performance over the Q9xxx processors, so role on June 2009....

Compared to the older Q models the i7 is said to be a true quad cpu?
