Loading Windows XP
Hey guys i am new to the forum so this is also a chance for me to say hi, so Hi
. I am getting some blue screens when i access youtube or any other sites that have flash movies on them, not all the time sometimes they work sometimes they don't. To get rid of this problem i tried to reinstall my windows xp sp3 by inserting the cd running the setup and choosing to upgrade my current version. During the copying process of the files i got an error such as windows can't find aej6yxiy.sys but i clicked ignore thinking that is not an important file. When the system rebooted i had to chose Windows XP Professional and Windows XP Professional Setup, so i chose setup. The setup said that i need the file aej6yxiy.sys and cannot continue. So i rebooted and now i can run my previous windows installation and i deleted the copied files from the cd. But now when i turn on the pc i get two options to chose from win xp professional and win xp professional setup and only 5 seconds time to choose and its default set to setup |

Welcome to the forums Paul
To get rid of one or other of the two OS boot options, you need to edit the boot.ini file* (found in C:\), and remove one of the OS' listed. * Save a backup of the boot.ini file somewhere first! You'll find advice on how to do it on the Microsoft website, and also here... but see below for brief instructions, which you should be able to follow without too much trouble. How to modify the boot.ini, and remove an unwanted OS: Open an MS-DOS prompt by clicking "Start" --> "Run" and typing "cmd" in the text box. At the MS-DOS prompt, type: bootcfg /delete /ID# (where # specifies the boot entry ID that you want to be deleted from the operating systems section of the BOOT.INI file - e.g. 2 for the second Operating system that is listed). [edit] Make sure you add a space between bootcfg and /delete, and between delete and /ID#. [/edit] Once you've removed the one you don't want, save the file, and reboot the system. All being well, it'll now boot into your OS of choice

I managed to make it work by replacing the content of boot.ini with
Code:
[boot loader] timeout=30 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect |
